Naruto for Free!

TV TOKYO and Cruchyroll.com have announced that it will begin airing episodes of Naruto Shippuden to subscribers on January 8th, 2009. These episodes will appear around an hour after they’ve aired in Japan and will be English Subbed. A week later they will be free to watch on the CruncyRoll site and apparently it won’t be limited to a US audience either, it’ll be a worldwide stream.
Also airing will be Shugo Chara and Skip Beat! with more planned for the future as CrunchyRoll is dealing with Gonzo, Toei, ADV, Media Blasters, Directions, Udon and Organic to name but a few.
This will have some downsides however. The CR site will change it’s format completely by only hosting videos approved by copyright holders, this means that all user uploaded data will have to cease and be removed by the January 8th deadline.
CR has some titles that it streams already in HQ video and whilst it is good quality it doesn’t really compare to the fansubbed material that is readily available to fans. Some Fansubbers have announced their withdrawal from the Naruto franchise but I doubt whether it will be widespread.

Music Tip: Green Day Rumour

Whilst I’ve been sitting here working on the site and other geeky stuff, I’ve had iTunes blurting out ‘My Top Rated’ playlist. Green Day appears on it heavily and I got to thinking that the last thing I heard from them was the awesome John Lennon Cover, ‘Working Class Hero’ recorded for the benefit album – ‘Instant Karma: the Amnesty International Campaign to Save Darfur’ – which you should buy. So I had a little surf and came up with, at numerous locations, that 2009 will bring 3 – yep 3 – new Green Day albums! After a little more searching I found this to be complete gobshite, it was originally reported by the NME back in 2006 in an article that stated they had enough material for 3 new albums… Anyway, for up-to-date information, an invaluable source is The Green Day Authority.

In the meantime, whilst we wait for news of the next release, here’s the official video for ‘Working Class Hero’

When I’m 64…

Empire magazine (UK) has published it’s top 500 films of all time. Appropriately, OldBoy appears at number 64.
KOFIC has more:

The UK’s most popular film magazine, Empire, published its list of the top 500 films of all time, placing PARK Chan-wook’s acclaimed thriller OldBoy 64th in the rankings. For the list, Empire polled more than 150 directors, including Quentin Tarantino and Mike Leigh, as well as 50 film critics and more than 10,000 readers of the magazine.

Slow on the uptake…

I haven’t used iTunes for what seems like months. It’s actually since the demise of a popular website where I (and most of the planet – including Trent Reznor) obtained their music.
Anyway, there seems to be a few other alternatives around worth taking a look at but in the meantime I thought I’d check out the new Radiohead album which is available exclusively via their website.

Radiohead - In Rainbows

The cool thing about this is that you can pay whatever you want for it! Awesome stuff. So, being probably the last person to test this out, I’ve downloaded the album tonight to check it out.
The first track 15 Step was so bloody brilliant I stuck in my playlist straight away. As with most Radiohead stuff, you need to listen to it through at least twice before you get into it, but this time I must say that for them to offer this latest piece of work for ‘free’ (if you don’t want to pay, you don’t have to) is amazing. A great 10 tracks that’s well worth downloading.

Bleed Feeds: 2006-10-31

It’s been a while since I’ve posted any feeds, in fact my Bloglines RSS feeds was so massively populated with unread entries it’s taken me a whole day to sift through them. I’ve picked out a few goodies though, so without further ado…
